Introduction

In the US, between 5-6 million home transactions are completed each year. More than 60% of Americans own their own home and will likely buy more than 3 houses throughout their life. If you want to own your own home, it's likely going to be your most valuable asset and the most money you've ever spent in one go. Unless you pay for a ticket to a Taylor Swift concert. 😩

This certificate course will allow you the skills to navigate the home-buying process, effectively budget how much you will need, and help you to identify the most suitable mortgage for your situation.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this, you will be able to:

  1. Decide when it's better to rent or buy.

  2. Navigate the buyer's journey, including the search process, bidding process, closing and post-closing processes.

  3. Differentiate between mortgage types (including conforming loans, conventional loans, FHA loans, USDA loans, ARMs, FRMs, etc.) and identify the best mortgage for your situation.

  4. Calculate mortgage payments, interest rates, remaining balances, and more on both a financial calculator and in Excel.

  5. Identify strategies to invest in residential rental property to grow your wealth.
